Let me first say that I am so thankful for mocha flavored ice cream. really. What a perfect afternoon treat on a hot day such as today. You probably wouldn’t think that mango puree + mocha ice cream would go good together, but, son! What a surprisingly delicious discovery, if I may say so myself!
Secondly, we are both so thankful for our ministry partners. People who not only pray, they send notes to remind us that they are praying for us, they support us financially {without that, we wouldn’t be here!}, they encourage us. They read our news updates, follow our blog, and even send us care packages! We would love to write a hand-written thank you note to each and every one of you. You know who you are. You are appreciated. Thanks for the role you play in world missions!
How was your 4th of July? Did you take in some of the parades, hot dogs, sparklers and lemonade for us? We are so thankful for our independence. We are so thankful for the brave men and women who fight for our country.
Yesterday was a normal work day for us here, although we did take time to eat a big ol’ juicy grilled hamburger and share some ice cream with friends. Shawn wore his Ohio State t-shirt {surprise, surprise}, and I wore red white and blue, featuring patriotic finger nails. Oooh yeah. We also hung our American flag outside of our window. Yesterday was also SUPER special because our new baby niece was born! She’s a little firecracker, that one. No name yet… how about Liberty Independence Freedom?
From the mission front:
We’ve been busy! There aren’t as many guests here now as there were in May/June {a record high!}, but there are many projects and things to accomplish. We feel so blessed to be here, and so far, despite some challenges [c'est la vie], we love our job!! Not many people can say that, and we are blessed.
It’s great coming in contact with so many people, working in such a WIDE variety of places, contexts and languages.

You never know what a day will hold! The other day there was a problem with the sewage line, and there was "water" flowing everywhere! EWWW. Thankfully, it's fixed now.
God continues to give us wisdom as we learn how to manage a staff of African workers. What would you do if you found one of your workers taking a nap in a {large} kitchen closet during their shift?? Most of the workers here are not saved, so we have a big responsibility, as they observe our lives!
Our summer intern continues to be a BIG blessing, and has had many opportunities to experience life in Senegal. She spent last weekend in a village, helping translate for a group of missionaries.
Thanks again for taking the time to stop by, read about our lives, and pray for us as we seek to serve people and reach out into the community.
