Right this very second…

Right this very second…

I am: sitting in my office, listening to Matt Maher, drinking coffee, making plans for today, and writing this post.

I am missing: good milk, my mom, our niece and nephews, fast food, hazelnut iced coffee from McDonalds, authentic Mexican food, a fluffy pillow, running water, sitting on a comfy couch watching TV, a “normal” shopping experience (at an air-conditioned mall with affordable spring clothes and a food court), seasons, church services in English.

I am frustrated because: yesterday someone stole from us and lied about it. Little interactions between neighbors are viewed so differently between cultures, and people can be easily offended (sometimes us, sometimes them).

Living here, we are always learning!

I am thankful for: comfortable weather, sunshine, a sweet dog that loves when kids come to play with her, our friends that came to visit yesterday, strawberry cookies that I brought back from Dakar, neighbors that missed us while we were gone, a thoughtful husband, a fridge that keeps our water cold and food fresh (a luxury that is somewhat rare in these parts), the encouragement of others.

Our neighbor Safi missed us while we were gone for a week.

I am dreaming about: the strawberry shortcake we had at our ladies meeting last week, meeting our new baby niece someday, being all together, in ONE place {heaven}, going on a family vacation with our grown siblings, the future that God has written for us.

What about you? What are you doing today? What are you thankful for?
